EDC Mexico is hands down the best — yes, even over Las Vegas. With 15 EDCs under my belt (including LA, Vegas, the UK, and Mexico City), I can say EDC Mexico is something truly special.
Mexico City’s 21 million people, combined with its passionate techno, trance, and hardstyle fans, create an unmatched vibe. The venue is massive, the prices are affordable, the sound is top-notch, and the festival gets bigger every year.
Whether you’re a first-timer or a veteran raver, this playbook will help you prepare for an unforgettable adventure at EDC Mexico!
Isn't Mexico Dangerous
EDC Mexico takes place in one of the world’s largest cities, Mexico City. Like any major metropolis, it has both great areas and spots to be cautious of.
Is it safe to travel to? Absolutely.
Should you take precautions? 100%. Just like you would when traveling anywhere else. We’ll cover all the essential tips throughout this post.
That said, EDC Mexico is one of the coolest festivals you’ll ever attend — and for a fraction of the cost compared to similar festivals in the U.S. or Europe.
Our Biggest Tips
1. Use Uber or Didi
- Uber is the safest, quickest, and most convenient way to get around Mexico City.
- Didi is another popular app, often cheaper, and just as safe.
2. Avoid Random Taxis
- Never hop into street taxis. Stick with Uber or Didi for safety.
3. Skip Renting a Car
- Driving in Mexico City is tough, and parking near the event is a hassle.
- We recommend using ride-hailing services instead.
4. Carry Cash (But Not Too Much)
- Most vendors at EDC Mexico are cash-only, so bring enough for drinks, food, and merch.
- Don’t carry large amounts; just what you’ll need.
5. Use a Fanny Pack or Locker
- Don’t keep your valuables in pockets. Opt for a fanny pack or rent a locker for safety.
6. Be Aware of Security
- Security is strict and works with the police. Don’t bring anything you shouldn’t.
7. Plan for Heavy Traffic
- Leave at least an hour before you want to arrive at the venue. Traffic can be heavy, especially on weekends.
8. Carry Toilet Paper
- It’s a life-saver! Public restrooms in Mexico don’t always have it or charge you for it. This is a life tip for traveling Mexico.
9. Cell Phone Service
- AT&T and T-Mobile customers get free calls, texts, and data in Mexico.
- You can also buy a prepaid AT&T SIM card for temporary service if your phone is unlocked.
10. Venue Bike Rides
- The venue is massive. So there's workers that have seated bike rides as a transportation service. This is a cool experience and a way to preserve energy. CASH ONLY.

The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is a famous motorsport racetrack, home to the Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix. Located just 30 minutes from downtown Mexico City, it holds the 6th highest sporting venue attendance in the world (221,011).
This massive venue hosts EDC Mexico and other major festivals year-round, making it the perfect home for the event.
The electronic music scene in Mexico is booming, with not just EDC Mexico, but also Sensation, ULTRA, Resistance, Q-Dance, ASOT, and more. Mexico is becoming a global hotspot for electronic music, offering a unique mix of international and homegrown festivals like WISH Outdoor, DarkWoods, and Corona Capital
Food & Beer
Inside and outside EDC Mexico, you’ll find a variety of food vendors (cash only).
Before entering the venue, check out the taco stands. Inside, vendors offer mini pizzas, cup noodles, and beer. You’ll also find tamales, snacks, and the famous Torta de Tamale (a tamale in a sandwich — don’t knock it 'til you try it!).
For drinks, Dos Equis is the official sponsor, and you'll find their beer throughout the festival, even with roaming vendors. Liquor is harder to find, but stands like Smirnoff offer shots and mixed drinks (credit cards accepted).

Favorite Nightlife Spots in Mexico City
- Ex Fabrica De Harina: An abandoned flour factory hosting techno parties. Grungy vibes with lots of graffiti.
- La Roma District: A trendy, hip area with a mix of bars and clubs playing Latin and electronic music.
- La Condesa District: Right next to La Roma, this upscale area is perfect for pre-drinks with bars and restaurants.
